How to Complain to Lufthansa

Lufthansa says customers can complain about a past flight through its online feedback form, covering airport, onboard and booking issues. It states that processing is currently slower than usual and asks customers not to send follow-up messages while waiting. For passenger-rights claims it also accepts contact by post. If it is not put right, you can take it to Schlichtung Reise & Verkehr (söp).

Good to Know

Small things that make your complaint stronger.

Lufthansa names the German conciliation body Schlichtung Reise & Verkehr as its dispute body; it says the trip must be private (non-business) and the matter not before a court. The CAA's ADR page also lists Lufthansa under this foreign provider.

Keep your booking confirmation, boarding passes and receipts for extra costs.

For a long delay, cancellation or denied boarding on a flight covered by UK261, compensation of £220, £350 or £520 may be payable depending on distance (on flights over 3,500 km it is £260 if you arrive 3 to 4 hours late), unless extraordinary circumstances applied.

For damaged baggage, make a written claim within 7 days. For delayed baggage, within 21 days.
